About

What is QTool ?

QTool is a powerful online questionnaire design and management system.  QTool is scalable, supports multiple users and multiple organisations, and provides a complete range of management features for clinicians and researchers to design, launch and manage PROMS-style questionnaires.

How did QTool originate ?

QTool was developed to support a wide diversity of research needs across many clinical settings, primarily for the collection of PROMS data online.

Is QTool easy to use ?

Users can create simple or sophisticated online questionnaires that can be completed by patients or clinicians using a web browser, on a variety of devices (e.g. pc, laptop, tablet, smartphone).

What are the advantages of using QTool ?

As well as supporting a variety of question types, QTool has the ability to support: scheduling of questionnaires; branching and dependent questions; scoring; alerts; and the creation of complex algorithms for calculating outcome measures.  For example, values from initial questions can be used in the creation of calculated scores which can then determine the scheduling of subsequent questions.

Does QTool have to be installed ?

No. QTool is accessed over the Web, running as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). There are two separate interfaces: one for the admin users developing and launching questionnaires; and a separate interface for the participants.

Is QTool secure ?

Yes. All data transfer between admin users or patients and QTool happens over secure encrypted connections (SSL).  In addition, data is stored in a secure data centre hosted within LIDA (Leeds Institute for Data Analytics), in Leeds.  LIDA is underpinned by the Integrated Research Campus (IRC), a highly secure and scalable computational infrastructure. The IRC is compliant with NHS Digital’s Information Governance Toolkit and achieved accredited certification in 2017 to the international standard for information security management, ISO/IEC 27001:2013.
